Exceed Expectations

If you want to be memorable, exceed someone’s expectations.

Think about your most memorable date, a day at work, or a family event. The strongest memory that you have is of a time when something did not go as expected. Sometimes it went worse than expected, sometimes it was better. As you are working on your projects and interacting with stakeholders, the simplest tool you can use to deliver the unexpected is to exceed expectations. If someone thinks that you will provide the results on Monday, deliver them on Friday. If someone expects a mediocre user experience, deliver an easy-to-use product.

When you exceed expectations, people will remember you.
