This weekend is a ‘no-work-weekend’ for me. I’ve made a choice not to check email, or respond to certain professional requests. I’m available for emergencies, but hopefully we have no emergencies.
So far today, I have:
- Cleaned the bathrooms
- Mowed the lawn
- Painted the basement
- Cleaned and vacuumed the house (upstairs and basement)
- Painted some baseboards
It might be a no-work-weekend, but it doesn’t mean that I’m not working. I’m put in more hours today than a regular work-day. But even a no-work-weekend like this is invaluable. It is a vacation from the routine. A weekend like this gives you a sense of control and forward motion in your personal life. And it gives your brain a chance to rest and think about every other part of your life.
A no-work-weekend might not mean “no work,” but it can mean a very restful weekend none-the-less.
